The recent Consistent Clients Makeover Mentorship for Introverts just finished this week. As we celebrated the transformation that happened for everyone since we started, one of my clients shared his excitement about his press release getting picked up by the major media channels of ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox. He used that to position to himself, and already is getting interest from people (ie, an insurance agent) who are impressed and want to refer him clients.
It’s amazing how much our society puts weight on major media & TV. Just because you’re an expert “seen on TV”, you’re seen as being really good at what you do.
Would you like to know one of the strategies he used to get picked up by the media? One of the strategies he used is called “piggybacking”. Piggybacking on what’s hot in the news or on celebrities’ names. For example, using a title in your press release or your “pitch” to the media (to get on TV) that says something like “What J Lo is eating to lose her last 5 lbs after pregnancy”. You can also piggyback off current significant news stories.
For example, GMOs have been getting a lot of national interest…if you are a naturopath, you can pitch something about “Is GMO the culprit to your toxic gut?” Is there something you do that is related to a hot news topic right now, that you can pitch a story about and then tie it back to your expertise being one of the solutions?
Want to learn how to get on major local and national TV channels, and position yourself as an expert?
Enter your name & email below. I’ll look at inviting a colleague of mine to interview and keep you in the loop when it happens. He has a proven method to get people on TV locally & nationally (including Good Morning America) and help you start getting seen as a sought-after expert. (but read below what you must have in place first and see if you qualify)
But getting in the media is not for everyone if you’re not ready right now. JJ Virgin, author of a recent New York Times Best Selling book, was a nationally well known health coach on Dr. Phil for 2 years, and didn’t get clients from it.
A common mistake is believing that just because you get more exposure and fame, you’ll get more clients. You have to be ready first.
Are you good with communicating your uniqueness? Are you good at inspiring people to become your clients from all the media exposure? Just like JJ Virgin, just because you’re on Dr. Phil for 2 years, it doesn’t mean you’ll get clients from it if you don’t have a good way to translate that exposure into actual paying patients/clients.
Do you have your service offerings and team support ready, so that when you are bombarded with calls, you can handle it? The worst thing is that you get a lot of interest and you aren’t able to handle the influx of them, and it gives you a bad reputation (you might think that’s a good problem to have, but getting a bad reputation can be embarrassing and damaging to your business for a long time).
So get good with these things first and THEN get publicity. That’s one of the 4 key strategies to quickly get exposure, and will help your practice skyrocket quickly.
By the way, if you’re an introvert and don’t want to be in the limelight, don’t worry. There are introverted strategies that are more comfortable for us and don’t require us to be in the limelight. My introverted holistic practitioner clients are getting excited about the first event of its kind for introverted holistic practitioners:
Introvert Power & Impact (see photo above for where the magic will be happening). It’s May 2-4, 2014 in Phoenix, AZ.
Introverted acupuncturists, chiropractors, naturopaths, massage therapists, energy/spiritual healers, and health coaches will be learning how to make 6 or 7 figures on their terms, without having to do it the exhausting extroverted way.
Want to be invited? Share your challenges with growing your practice as an introvert so we cover it, and be the first to receive significant early bird savings.
